Life History Theory: Evolutionary mechanisms and gender role on risk-taking behaviors in young adults

Evolutionary psychology considers the human mind to be composed of multiple specific mechanisms with adaptive purposes. This evolutionary approach is in line domain-specific view risk-taking behaviors. Based on theoretical framework Life History Theory, present study analyzes moderating effect gender and mediating risks young adult Spaniards (432 participants). K-factor, measured through Mini-K, was used as an indicator life history strategy (LHS). were Domain-Specific Risk Scale behaviors Risky Behavior Questionnaire. Results showed interaction between LHS for rule breaking. had a mediation behaviors, mainly mate attraction. These results highlight different effects based impact mechanisms. It is, therefore, necessary consider intervention programs aimed at reducing adults.
